NAIOP New Jersey's Core Mission is Advocacy            

NAIOP New Jersey invests significant assets in advocacy efforts to ensure that sound policies, laws and regulations govern our industry.

We support policies that bolster our economy, promote urban redevelopment and make needed improvements to our transportation infrastructure. We work closely with members of the Administration, Legislature, other business groups and labor leaders to identify and overcome obstacles to achieving those goals, and to ensure that policy decisions are made to plan for growth, not hinder it.

NAIOP New Jersey’s credibility can be attributed to its focus on being an objective advocate for the industry. We take positions based on well-founded, sound public policy, we speak as a voice of the industry to legislators and we fight for issues we know to be of paramount importance to landlords and owners in the marketplace.

The Chapter’s Legislative/Government Affairs staff includes the CEO, the Director of Policy and Communications and a contract lobbyist.

New Jersey is a hotbed of political and policy issues. We have no choice but to be involved, and our members always rise to the occasion.  In fact, approximately 15% of the Chapter’s members voluntarily contribute to Funds for the Future, a special advocacy fund that supports the association’s government affairs program.  Through annual contributions and fundraisers, members contribute to the Developers Political Action Committee (DPAC), which helps us to support candidates who are friends of the industry.

Over 100 New Jersey Chapter members are directly involved in crafting, reviewing and implementing our public policy initiatives. The Chapter’s Legislative, Regulatory Affairs and Construction Codes Committees are comprised of members who are expert at understanding and analyzing legislation, regulations, code proposals and court decisions to determine industry impact and craft thoughtful, balanced policies and recommendations that promote economic growth while protecting environmental resources. Special Task Forces address major and complex issues, such as COAH (affordable housing funding), Redevelopment/Eminent Domain and the Energy Master Plan.
