Langan’s Andrew Chun Receives NAIOP’s 2023 Developing Leaders Award

Nation’s Leading Commercial Real Estate Development Association Recognizes Industry’s Rising Stars

Andrew Chun

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Sept. 7, 2023) – NAIOP New Jersey member Andrew Chun, senior project scientist with Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, has been named a recipient of NAIOP’s 2023 Developing Leaders Award. Chun is one of only five industry professionals nationwide selected to receive the honor, which recognizes exceptional young professionals for their outstanding accomplishments, strong leadership and significant community involvement.

Established in 2006, the Developing Leaders Award is given to up-and-coming professionals under the age of 35 from across NAIOP’s national chapter network. This year’s winners will be recognized by the commercial real estate development association during its CRE.Converge 2023 conference in October.

“This prestigious award shines a light on our industry’s diversity and the exceptional caliber of this next generation of leaders,” said NAIOP New Jersey CEO Dan Kennedy. “Andrew has an exceptional ability to leverage strong communication skills and personal relationships to solve problems and create opportunities, and he is dedicated to sharing these strategies with his colleagues to help them advance their careers. There is no doubt he is deserving of this singular recognition, and will be making a difference in the real estate community for many years to come.”

Chun, who is based in Langan’s Princeton office, specializes in providing environmental engineering services for development projects in the residential, commercial, industrial and higher education sectors. A self-described “problem solver,” he applies his expertise and resources to find the best solutions to clients’ challenges – with the goal of improving the socioeconomic climate in surrounding communities.

As co-creator of Young Professionals@Langan, Chun also helps promote a culture of knowledge sharing and skills development among his co-workers as they grow their careers. He brings the same skills to his role as co-chair of NAIOP NJ’s Developing Leaders Committee, where he is seeking ways to help members connect, communicate, and advocate for themselves – including launching a pilot mentoring initiative.

“I am grateful to be recognized by NAIOP and thrilled to represent our chapter and the great work we do,” said Chun. “Dan has a passion for this type of professional development, and it is exciting to work with him and his team to make things happen.”

Chun is excited by the opportunity the award offers to make meaningful connections outside of New Jersey. “My co-nominees are truly impressive, and I look forward to meeting and learning from folks from other markets who are at the same level in their careers. I hope we can find ways to collaborate as we advance in the industry together.”

NAIOP NJ President Mark Shearer noted, “NAIOP has a long, respected history of mentoring the next generation of CRE leadership on a national scale, and the recognition of Andrew’s outstanding skills and accomplishments is quite an honor. Identifying young professionals and supporting them in building their real estate careers is critical to the future of our industry, and NAIOP NJ is committed to providing tools, networking and resources to help foster their growth.”

Founded in 1970, NAIOP New Jersey is a leading chapter of NAIOP, a national trade association for commercial real estate developers, owners, investors, asset managers and other industry professionals. The New Jersey chapter’s members benefit from robust business and networking opportunities, education and professional development programs, and strong legislative and public affairs representation.
